5 most popular file extensions in the world

Ever since I started using computer I have been dealing with files, files and files. There is nothing to check on my system other than files. There are around thousands of file types available today. But ever thought what would be your life without certain file types? What if those file types were never discovered ? What would we have done in that situation ? Thoughts are really scary believe me.  Imagine a pile up CDs lying in your cuboard and out of those CDs only 2-3 tracks are useful. Imagine Bulky Movies on your hard drive. Had DivX not been developed we would be having terrible time with our hard drive space.

I have created a list of 5 file types that I think changed my life or per say anyone’s life who uses computers.

1. mp3 – One revolutionary format that changed the way music industry or music enthusiasts used to work. From CDs and Cassettes to mp3 files has been a long journey. It was fraunhofer Institute, Germany who developed this format and till date there is no other format that is as popular as mp3. There has been many other formats after mp3 but not better than mp3.
2. DivX – Originally accepted as Zoom TV, Divx was a home video arrangement originally conceived about 1994 by arresting Los Angeles ball law close Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca and Fischer. They teamed up with Circuit City Stores, the better customer electronics banker in the U.S. at the time, to advance the abstraction into a bankable product. 3. Zip - The format was originally created in 1986 by Phil Katz for PKZIP. But WinZip left PKZIP behind even. Till this date we are using WinZip. Though there are other market products that try to defeat and give WinZip run for its mills but no one has ever been able to tamper its position.
4. pdf - Right from our books to printing anything. Pdf has been there. This one format for documents has given people so much freedom to transfer their documents over the internet without being tampered with. Pdf can use encryption which has just made the corporate world’s life so easier. The aboriginal time Adobe absolutely talked about this technology was at a Seybold appointment in San Jose in 1991. At that time, it was referred to as ‘IPS’ which stood for ‘Interchange PostScript.’ Version 1.0 of PDF was appear at Comdex Fall in 1992 area the technology won a ‘best of Comdex’ award. The accoutrement to actualize and appearance PDF-files, Acrobat, were appear in on 15 June 1993.
5. txt – Don’t have to say anything much about this format. Multi platform and so down to earth that anyone and everyone can use it.
