In every organization, at some point, a worker comes along with an intolerable smell, personal space issues, lack of volume control, or one of many problems that negatively affect your work environment and are particularly awkward to confront. While there’s really no way to resolve your discomfort, when it’s time to tell your coworker the truth there are definitely good ways to get the job done. Here’s how.

Around Diwali, the usual constant stream of “visitors” will show up. The crew of building watchmen (half a dozen of whom you’ve never seen before), the janitor, the postman, the maid, and probably some random strangers chancing their luck – they will all knock on your door looking for Diwali “Baksheesh.” Baksheesh is a term that loosely refers to either a tip or, interestingly, a bribe.
For people, the popularity of tipping has always been something of a mystery. Take restaurant tipping as a typical example. Since the tip is usually given at the end of the meal, what good purpose does it serve? Since the service has already been provided, it can’t by definition affect the quality of the service you received? It would make sense maybe for a repeat customer on the basis that a kind tip would lead to the probability of better service next time.
But researchers have something else to say. As per the researchers, tipping is equally likely to yield same service whether a customer plans to return or not. The consensus seems to be that tipping is best understood as a social norm, a form of charitable giving tied to the provision of a service.

Stumple upon this small and very informative article on American Photo Magazine. Thought should share it with you guys. It’s worth a read.
There are now over 60 billion photographs on Facebook. To put that in perspective, from the dawn of modern photography in the mid-1920s through 1990, it’s estimated that around 57 billion photographs were made.
Photography is everywhere on the internet: personal snapshots of friends and family; professionally produced photojournalism; high and low fashion; cellphone snapshots from protests around the globe; intimate photographs depicting every imaginable aspect of human sexuality; banal scenes of street life; party photographs; photographs of celebrities in the club and in the bedroom; photographs of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Photographs are everywhere and all of us are looking at them every day. It’s unavoidable. And while many photographers might gripe that the majority of these images aren’t very good or interesting (they’re probably right), the proliferation has had a positive impact on how I personally experience photography.
The combination of affordable digital cameras, camera phones and the ease of sharing photography online has made “everyone a photographer” and more importantly, made everyone involved in the photography conversation whether they realize it or not. A by-product of this is that more and more people are becoming seriously interested in improving their photography, and seeking out high-quality work for inspiration or enrichment.

Although I feel Facebook is really secure apart from one or two hiccups in the past, I have personally not encountered any issues with Facebook so far. But there is no harm in adding additional security to your Facebook account. While not a cure-all, this little check-box will drastically reduce the vulnerability of your account to phishing (hacking) schemes and help keep your brand safer!
Enabling HTTPS ensures that you have a secure connection between you and Facebook when you log in – which makes it much harder for infected stuff to steal your login credentials on the fly.
This is not yet a default setting – but we figure it will become one in the very near future based on Facebook’s other actions. For now, you can very easily enable it for yourself.

I asked this question some time ago, Why do people lie? Well it seems like Pamela Meyer has discovered how to spot a liar. She’s taken look at the most common behaviours of liars, scientifically, and shares her expertise on how to detect them.
Meyer believes that lying is often a two-way act. We willingly let others deceive us because we want to avoid disagreement. We may tell each other an email didn’t receive a response because it ended up in the spam folder or that dinner was delicious (or at least tolerable). This is okay to some extent because we’re all okay with it, but studies show that you may be lied to anywhere from 10 to 200 times per day. Many of those are white lies, but studies have also discovered that strangers lie three times within the first ten minutes of meeting each other. Meyer sees lying as what we do to bridge the gap between fantasy and reality. When we want something to be true, we lie so that it at least appears to be true in the hopes that we may be able to make it that way before any truth is uncovered. We hope it will be true, and so our lies are essentially loans of a desired future.

While I was hunting for suitable theme for Revolutioners, I stumbled upon a theme website. The theme was not that good but the content on that site made me post this article. It had lot of images of a single person. I thought it would be a good idea to have it as a single point to refer in case anyone is looking for ideas for his/her next Facebook profile picture. I saved the whole site as Image and posting it here on my blog. I really liked the ideas of the pictures shown on the blog. If you need inspiration for clicking your own picture for your social website’s profile then look nowhere else. The image is really long and huge in size. So be careful.

Cheating is a “bad thing,” but it isn’t necessarily black and white. Pretty much anybody is capable of cheating, and the motivation to do so is built into our society. Here’s a look at why people cheat, and why such a bad thing isn’t necessarily an indicator of a bad person.
To understand why someone cheats, you have to consider why anybody makes a fearful decision. Say there’s another person that you like and want to ask out on a date, but you’re nervous and not sure if you can do it. Before you act, you often play out the outcome in your head by using the information you have and past experiences to fill in the blanks. Perhaps this person is very attractive and could be out of your league, so it’s unlikely that s/he will be willing to go on a date with your and you’ll be met with failure. Or perhaps you’re too nervous to make a good first impression. On the other hand, things could go well, but asking someone out is a choice with potential negative and positive consequences. Not asking someone out doesn’t change anything and therefore can’t make anything worse. In this situation, many people will opt to do nothing because the downside—not having a new girlfriend or boyfriend—is preferable to the possible downside of being rejected.

Facebook really is one of the biggest success stories of the last 10 years, and not just when it comes to companies based around the internet. Infamously founded by Mark Zuckerberg while at Harvard, Facebook is now home to over 600 million users – and it shows no sign of slowing in its meteoric rise to ruling to social networking world. But what if Facebook was never founded? It just so happens rent-an-evangelist Guy Kawasaki asked that very same question and came up with this infographic courtesy of SimpleGrain.
As well as answering that particular burning question, this infographic also reminds us just how staggering that 600m user stat is – remember that the population of Russia is just 143m, and in 1600AD there were only 545m people on the entire planet!

Rajnikant once raced with time and guess what happened…time is still running !:P
LOL could not resist myself from sharing this one liner but guess what I saw today on the front page of GIZMODO. Rajnikant ! Yeah. Rajnikant has been featured in an article on GIZMODO. Its about a video posted on Youtube. Post title on GIZMODO says “The Only Sci-Fi Movie You need to watch for the rest of your Life”
Let me share something special with you. This is Endhiran, a Bollywood action flick. It’s like Terminator, The Matrix, and Transformers combined, but better. Or, as Jesus summarized, “an orgy of absurdity that not even Michael Bay can match.” It’s definitely absurd. More absurd than it looked in the trailer, which was already pretty absurd. And for some reason, this compilation clip is dubbed in Russian, but I guess I wouldn’t want it any other way. Update: A reader writes in with two important facts. 1) Robot is, in fact, a Kollywood movie (Tamil, whereas Bollywood is Hindi) and 2) it was the most expensive Indian movie ever made. Of course it was!
