it would be be cool if it didn't have to be manually updated – eg, it used random posts instead of random links…

Yeah, you are right I never noticed my Blog's bounce rate. Ever since I posted this tutorial my Blog's bounce rate has gone down to 40%. Earlier it was around 90%
